On the 24th of August 2021 our AGM was held, our outgoing President expressed his
thanks to the volunteers and help that we had through the past twelve
months, even though the year had been difficult with the lock downs stopping
us from opening for our members enjoyment, the lock downs also interfered
with our ability to raise funds, at least we made a small profit that
covered shed expenses.
Incoming President Gary McBride was elected for the forthcoming year he
spoke on expectations of hopefully a better year ahead. He thanked the
members for their understanding of the difficulties ahead of us for maybe a few
years and hopefully the experts may get Covid under control.
Hi Sheders,
Put into your diary the 25th of January 2020 Market Day. These markets are
held on the 4th Saturday of each month at the Wamuran Community Hall
grounds, starting at 7.30am til 12.00 noon. Your shed will be running the BBQ + Second hand goods from the shed.
Organised by the Wamuran Historical and Visitors Centre.
Hi Shedders,
Easter is nearly over for another year, I hope everyone has had a good break
and a restful long week-end. A little more trivia did you know that in July
1998 the first Men’s Shed was started in Tongala, Victoria. There is now
over 1,000 sheds in Australia, and 184 in Queensland with 30 of those on the
Sunshine Coast.
Your shed is one of that 30, we are all proud of our shed, how it started
and was nurtured from an idea to where it is to-day, a fully functional and
fully equipped unit. This achievement just did not happen overnight ore on
its own, but with the dedication of a lot of hard work by the members,
raising funds, getting donations and community support. The Sausage sizzle
teams and second hand teams have worked tirelessly ever since we started in
2011, and we need more hands to assist, taking some of the load off the few
who are always there. Remember it is your shed too.
Always work safely, make sure you are signed off on the tools you wish to
work with, always keep an eye on your mates. If you see any safety issue
please let the shop manager know.
